Carolyn D. Brockington, MD, Director of the Stroke Center at Mount Sinai West and Mount Sinai Morningside

Carolyn D. Brockington, MD, is the Director of the Stroke Center at Mount Sinai West and Mount Sinai Morningside in New York City. She is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and has a subspecialty board certification in Vascular Neurology. Dr. Brockington cares for patients in the emergency room, outpatient and hospital setting. One of her clinical interests is the treatment and prevention of stroke in minority communities (disparities in healthcare). Notably, the incidence of stroke and stroke-related mortality in the African-American and Hispanic communities is twice the rate found in Caucasian communities. She gives frequent lectures and provides stroke screenings to church and healthcare programs. In addition, she works with the American Stroke Association (ASA) as a volunteer medical spokesperson, regarding a campaign to increase stroke awareness and highlight prevention strategies, particularly in underserved communities.
